Dan Ryan
Chief Executive Officer

Dan drives RedBrick's overall strategy and growth. Before joining RedBrick in 2011, Dan was president and CEO at Secure Computing, a $250M leader in enterprise security solutions, prior to it being acquired by McAfee where he served as EVP and general manager of their $500M network security business unit. He also served as president and chief operating officer at Stellent, a leading enterprise content management software company that grew revenues from $2M to $130M during his tenure before being acquired by Oracle, where he became senior vice president of enterprise content management products. Dan joined Stellent from Foglight Software, an innovator in e-commerce and application performance management where he headed marketing, product management and business development. During his time at Foglight, the company grew from a startup to a market player, realizing customer adoption by many leading e-commerce companies prior to its acquisition by Quest Software.

Dan earned his Bachelor of Science degree in math and economics from the University of Minnesota. Dan is an avid runner, and enjoys many outdoor activities including tennis, golf, kayaking, fishing and boating. He spends most of his spare time with his wife and four kids, coaching and watching them in baseball, hockey and gymnastics.

Kurt Cegielski
Co-Founder and Senior Vice President, Employer Solutions

As founder and senior vice president of employer solutions, Kurt oversees all aspects of employer business at RedBrick Health. He has direct responsibility for employer sales, sales support and client management. He works closely with data science and health strategy teams to articulate and measure against clients’ financial and health program goals and aids clients in setting and adapting their strategies to meet goals for employee health.

Before co-founding RedBrick Health in 2006, Kurt led the customer reporting and analytics group for Definity Health, which was responsible for researching, understanding and communicating overall plan performance to clients. During his tenure at Definity, Kurt also oversaw plan design pricing, financial modeling and performance guarantees as the director of underwriting. Prior to joining Definity, he was a senior underwriting consultant with the Principal Financial Group.

Kurt has a B.S.B.A. in finance with a concentration in economics from Drake University and an M.B.A. from the University of Iowa. He spends many of his free moments with his wife and three kids, and enjoys time outdoors.

Jeff Dobro
Chief Medical Officer

Jeff oversees RedBrick’s clinical strategy. Jeff joined RedBrick in 2011 with over 20 years of thought leadership in integrated population health management solutions including comprehensive care management, condition management, well-being programs as well as provider-based solutions for employers, managed care and provider-based companies. Most recently, he was senior consultant and Eastern Region practice leader in Willis Towers Watson’s Health Management practice. Prior to that, Jeff spent five years covering the healthcare industry as a financial analyst on Wall Street. He has also served as principal at Creative Medical Management, chief medical officer at Telesis Medical Management, and regional chief medical officer at New York Life.

Jeff earned his M.D. from the Medical College of Pennsylvania where he received the Merck Award for Academic Excellence, and finished his specialty training at New York University where he continues to teach as a board-certified rheumatologist. He spends much of his spare time outdoors skiing, biking, kayaking and hiking and enjoying live music and theater with his wife, two daughters and extended family.

Senior Vice President, Data Science and Operations

As senior vice president of data science and operations, Daniel leads multiple teams responsible for client implementations and operational excellence, consumer support, research, and analytics. Daniel joined RedBrick in 2013, leading the launch of the data science team, focused on driving evidence-based research on the efficacy of RedBrick programs and creating a reporting and analytics data warehouse. During 2015, he led RedBrick content behavior design, product strategy and development, where he directed those teams in the successful release of the current platform for migrating existing customers.

Prior to RedBrick, Daniel held numerous leadership positions in both public and private sectors, including the University of Minnesota and Control Data Corporation. In 1999, he co-founded SwiftKnowledge, a business intelligence software company focused on intuitive delivery of dynamic, actionable information. He delivered solutions across multiple business verticals, leading to a successful sale of the company in 2012.

Daniel received a Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Minnesota with a concentration in behavior genetics, statistics and individual differences. He has a track record of research contributions in both psychology and in data analytic systems.

Todd Price
Senior Vice President, Software Development

As vice president of software development, Todd is responsible for the development, testing and delivery of the RedBrick Health application. Prior to joining RedBrick, Todd served as vice president of software development at Oracle Corporation and was responsible for the development of its content management product line. Over the length of his career he has had the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of the software life cycle, from conception, requirements gathering, design, development, testing and quality assurance to technical sales, direct sales, consulting services and support.

Todd has a Bachelor of Science degree in math and computer science from St. Cloud State University. His passion is to build software that works for people with a focus on quality and user experience. In his spare time Todd runs to relax and to ensure he can dance at his kids wedding. His favorite pastime is watching his 3 children play music, shoot baskets and kick soccer balls.

Sara Ratner
Senior Vice President,
Compliance and Corporate Systems

Sara oversees clinical operations at RedBrick Health, which includes telephonic coaching, guide services and biometric screening services. She joined in 2013, having held various healthcare executive leadership roles. Prior to RedBrick, Sara served as president of NeoPath Health, a worksite health clinic provider. Prior to NeoPath, she was the chief compliance officer and the executive sponsor for Medicaid at Prime Therapeutics and was a member of the executive leadership team. She also had leadership team roles at CVS-Caremark/MinuteClinic and Fiserv Health.

Sara has published healthcare articles in trade journals and recently authored a chapter in The Risk Management Handbook for Healthcare Organizations. She was named a "Woman to Watch" in 2009 by the Minneapolis St. Paul Business Journal, in 2012 was named a "Top 40 under 40" by the Minneapolis St. Paul Business Journal and in 2015 was named by the Minnesota Business Magazine to the “Real Power 50" list.

Sara received her B.A., cum laude, from Washington University in St. Louis and her J.D., magna cum laude, from St. Louis University. Sara is a competitive triathlete, and enjoys new adventures and spending time with her family and daughter.

Kim Stephan
General Counsel

As general counsel, Kim oversees all legal matters at RedBrick Health, including corporate, contract and intellectual property law. In addition, she advises the leadership team and board of directors in areas of compliance, governance and risk management.

Before joining RedBrick, Kim spent eight years with Capella Education Company, most recently as assistant general counsel and senior director of regulatory affairs, where she led legal work related to corporate governance and public company requirements and advised on strategic business transactions, investor relations, executive compensation and contracts. Kim also oversaw the state regulatory function at Capella, successfully managing compliance and advocacy efforts. Prior to Capella, Kim was a partner at Graham & Dunn, practicing largely among corporate securities and governance matters, regulatory affairs and mergers and acquisitions.

Kim earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance with an accounting emphasis from the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire. She received her J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School.

Prior to that, he served as chief financial officer for Stellent, helping grow software revenue from $2 million to $130 million. In this role, he led the company in its due diligence and integration of ten acquisitions as well as in its first public stock offering and follow-on offering, raising over $260 million. Gregg also has been chief financial officer for GalaGen, as well as a public accountant at Deloitte & Touche and PriceWaterhouseCoopers.

Gregg earned his B.S. in accounting from Bemidji State University and an M.S. in finance from Colorado State University. He enjoys spending time on Lake Mille Lacs, as well as hunting and traveling.

Eric Zimmerman
Chief Marketing Officer

Eric leads marketing, product strategy and business development, and co-created RedBrick’s content and behavior design lab. Eric joined RedBrick in late 2009, bringing two decades of experience creating and commercializing innovative technology solutions that empower consumers to take a more active role in their health. Prior to joining RedBrick, Eric served as chief innovation officer and general manager at Mirixa, a pioneer in connected care at the point of pharmacy, and SVP of marketing at RelayHealth, a leader in patient-physician e-connectivity. Eric has previously held leadership positions at StayWell, Medscape, and Johnson & Johnson where he helped build one of the nation’s earliest and most successful comprehensive corporate health management companies.

Eric earned a master's degree in public health from UCLA with an emphasis in behavioral science, and an M.B.A. from Pepperdine University. When he’s not visualizing a better health system, Eric enjoys mountain biking, running, travel and cooking (and eating) with his wife and two children.

Karin Bultman
Vice President,
Market Development

As vice president of market development, Karin is responsible for creating and overseeing the processes for development, validation, execution and monitoring RedBrick’s market strategy and growth plans. Since joining in 2010, Karin has created the company’s content and behavior design discipline and championed market intelligence projects leading to product innovations.

Prior to RedBrick, Karin founded a boutique consulting firm and created health improvement and technology solutions at companies such as StayWell, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota and Caredata.com. She's an industry veteran with previous work in clinical settings, academic research, consulting and product development.

Karin earned a master's degree in public health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Outside of work, Karin spends time with her active family, enjoying the outdoors and volunteering for a variety of community organizations.

Mike Erickson
Vice President, Client Services

As vice president of client services, Mike is responsible for services and operations at RedBrick. He and his team work tirelessly to deliver the programs that help people be healthy through implementation, professional services, data operations, quality and consumer support.

Mike joined RedBrick in 2013, successfully leading a team in implementing the latest version of RedBrick's platform into new and existing markets. He has 15 years of experience creating successful software products in diverse markets. His passion is developing new teams, products and organizations. Prior to joining RedBrick, Mike was a co-founder and chief technology officer of a small SaaS company focused on the semiconductor market.

Mike has a degree in computer science from the University of Minnesota. He is also a former U.S. Army Airborne, Air Assault, Sapper. He enjoys skiing, biking, camping and running, often behind his two young, bicycling sons.

Phil Hadden
Vice President,
Business Development

As vice president of business development, Phil works alongside the business and market development teams to expand RedBrick's presence in the health plan market.

Phil brings with him over 25 years of business development experience in the healthcare industry. Most recently, he served as the senior vice president of sales for Onlife Health, a national wellness company owned by BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, where he significantly grew the company’s revenue and helped provide strategic guidance for product innovation. Prior to Onlife Health, he served as senior vice president of sales and product marketing for SHPS Health Management Solutions, and served in a similar role at CareWise, Inc., a pioneer in the 24/7 nurse advise service industry, selling to health plans and employers.

Phil earned a B.S. From the State University of New York College at Brockport. When he’s not in the office, Phil enjoys exercise, cycling, gardening, cooking, history, travel and spending time with his wife, two children and three cats.

Vice President,
Corporate Marketing

As vice president of corporate marketing, Cynthia oversees brand stewardship, market messaging, positioning, thought leadership, growing brand awareness and demand. Her team supports the RedBrick sales, business development and client services teams.

Prior to RedBrick, Cynthia helped grow client brands including 3M and FedEx as vice president of account strategy at Hanley Wood Marketing. She previously worked as director of creative services at Life Time Fitness, managing its internal marketing agency. As director of creative services at Imaginet, she worked with Medtronic, Merrill Lynch, NASDAQ, RBC and others. Before that, she co-founded and served as CEO at Three Fish Design, whose clients included Target, Business Incentives, Dayton Hudson/Marshall Fields and the Weisman Art Museum.

Cynthia holds B.A. and B.S. degrees from the University of Minnesota and earned her M.B.A. at the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management.

David Kabaker
Vice President,
Business Development

As vice president of business development, David Kabaker is responsible for developing strategic distribution relationships to reach consumers and employers through broker organizations, provider organizations, ACOs and other channels.

David comes to RedBrick with deep industry knowledge and experience. He helped found Corporate Fitness Resources, which was sold to Health Fitness Corp where he stayed on as vice president of the Western Region. David served as executive vice president of sales and marketing at WellCall, now a part of Health Advocate. He also developed the strategic distribution business for WebMD Health Services and ran strategic accounts in the employer segment at Walgreens.

David graduated from the University of California at San Diego with a B.A. in economics. When he’s not in the office, David enjoys tennis, travel and spending time with his two kids.

Vice President,
Security

As vice president of security, Dan Kolkowitz works to ensure that RedBrick has developed the necessary and required security infrastructure for all systems and applications. He also serves on the Governance Risk and Compliance Committee, focusing on understanding RedBrick's risks, impact and mitigation on a global level.

Dan brings more that 25 years of experience developing network technologies and distributed systems to the RedBrick team. Dan has a long and successful entrepreneurial history, including the co-founding of companies MobileAria, Compact Devices, Securify, Inc., and Swan Labs, Inc. He also served as chief technical officer and vice president of operations at PlaySpan. Most recently, Dan co-founded IdentityMind Global, an e-commerce company that provides risk management and regulatory compliance solutions for the financial and digital commerce ecosystem.

Dan earned a M.S.C.S. from Stanford University, where he also managed several of the University's key distributed computing projects and lectured in the computer sciences department. He has been active in networking and security industry groups and standards organizations for over 20 years.

Most recently, Dan co-founded IdentityMind Global, an e-commerce company that provides risk management and regulatory compliance solutions for the financial and digital commerce ecosystem.

Dan earned a M.S.C.S. from Stanford University, where he also managed several of the University's key distributed computing projects and lectured in the computer sciences department. He has been active in networking and security industry groups and standards organizations for over 20 years.

Nicole Manderscheid
Vice President,
Human Resources

Nicole is responsible for leading the talent acquisition efforts and devising strategies to develop and retain top talent for RedBrick. In addition, Nicole champions RedBrick’s award-winning culture, providing a superior experience for all RedBrick employees. She came to RedBrick in 2011 with more than 15 years of experience planning, developing, organizing and implementing HR solutions that best support a flow of talent that is capable of meeting RedBrick’s business needs. Prior to RedBrick, Nicole led HR functions at ABILITY Network, Stellent and the TesseracT Group.

Nicole earned her B.S. in mass communications at St. Cloud State University, has an M.A. in human resources & industrial relations from Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota and is SPHR designated. In her free time, Nicole enjoys traveling, exercising and cheering her kids on in their athletic endeavors.

Andrew Mellin
Vice President, Medical Director

As vice president medical director, Andrew is responsible for providing clinical and market expertise, strategic leadership and customer guidance for RedBrick Health's provider services line of business. Andrew brings over 15 years of experience in population health improvement and health information technology to RedBrick. Prior to RedBrick, Andrew led the acquisition integration for MedVentive, a population health analytics solution at McKesson, and subsequently served as vice president, medical director for McKesson’s population and risk management solutions. In addition, Andrew created and led an innovation group that developed a novel analytics solution that dramatically improved inpatient quality by preventing hospital acquired conditions, led the physician strategy for McKesson’s EHR and was co-inventor on numerous patents. He also served as the medical director for Allina Health's Davies Award-winning Epic electronic health record implementation project and worked part-time for 15 years as a hospitalist at United Hospital in St. Paul, MN.

Andrew completed his undergraduate degree from Cornell University, his medical degree from Duke University and his M.B.A. from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, MO. In his spare time, Andrew enjoys travel, mountain biking, exercise and spending time with his family.

Pat Midden
Vice President, Compliance

As vice president of compliance, Pat leads RedBrick’s compliance functions in maintaining a strong focus on privacy and security. In addition, Pat leads the effort in building out RedBrick's compliance function to support new business in the government programs space.

Prior to RedBrick, Pat worked as a computer consultant, designing and building client server- and internet-based applications and services around the country in the financial and insurance fields. He then practiced law for over 5 years, focusing on corporate finance, intellectual property, software licensing and privacy before moving to a role as privacy officer for a large pharmaceutical benefit management company. There, he expanded and managed the privacy program for operations, involving over 20 million individuals. Most recently, Pat provided privacy, security and compliance consulting, where he advised clients on developing programs to meet general privacy, security and compliance regulations.

Pat holds a B.S. In computer science from the University of Notre Dame, an M.B.A. from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota and a J.D. From William Mitchell College of Law.

Elizabeth Nelson
Vice President,
Clinical Services

As vice president of clinical services, Elizabeth leads the development, training and management of the content and quality improvement efforts for RedBrick clinical services. She has responsibility for RedBrick coaches and guides providing Next-Steps ConsultsTM, Ask a GuideTM service, High-Risk Care Coordination and clinical engagement specialists as well as telephone coaching and on-site services.

Elizabeth joined RedBrick in 2011 from Target Corporation, where she worked to create and manage their retail clinics, and was part of Target’s new wellness steering committee. Prior to Target, Elizabeth worked for prominent healthcare companies such as Medtronic and Mayo Health Systems, serving in a consulting role to develop and improve new and enhanced healthcare service and products, as well as other small start-ups.

Elizabeth is a registered nurse and certified health coach. She has an M.A. in holistic health studies from St. Catherine University in Minneapolis and a B.A. in nursing from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. When not in the office, Elizabeth enjoys traveling, hiking, sports and spending time with her family.

Dave Poole
Vice President,
Sales

Dave Poole serves as vice president of sales at RedBrick Health, leading the national sales team focused on large employer clients. The team works extensively with prospects, employee benefits consultants and brokerage firms to further enhance RedBrick’s presence in the market.

Prior to joining RedBrick, Dave most recently worked in the national accounts division of United Health Group via its acquisition of Definity Health, where he led midwest sales for seven years. Other experience includes sales and management positions at Quest Diagnostics and Aetna Health Plans.

Dave holds a B.A. in political science and German from Northwestern University.

Matt Scholl
Vice President,
Business Development

As vice president of business development, Matt currently leads the identification, development and execution of new business opportunities in the health plan space. He was the first employee hired by RedBrick Health’s founders.

Previously, Matt was an investment banker with TripleTree, a leading healthcare boutique. He led the health & wellness team, conducting industry-leading research as well as M&A engagements and execution, including the sale of Cardium Health to Centene and vielife to CIGNA. Prior to joining TripleTree, Matt served as an associate with Harbour Ventures, a venture advisory firm in San Diego. Matt also spent a number of years in the investor relations field, working in agency account supervision and corporate IR department management.

Matt earned both his B.A. and M.Ed. from the University of San Diego and his M.B.A. in entrepreneurial management & finance from the Graduate School of Business at San Diego State University. Matt and his wife have two daughters.

Dawn has a Bachelor of Science degree in health promotion/wellness from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, a Masters of Business Communication degree from the University of St. Thomas and pursuing a Doctorate of Science in Holistic Nutrition from Hawthorn University. Dawn enjoys staying active and spends her free time with her husband and two kids.
